Statement

I am always reluctant to give a statement as words cannot always convey a true meaning, if pressed I would say that spirituality and philosophy form the basis by which I live and therefore must form the basis of my art.

Relationships, between human beings, between nature and mankind, between sky and earth, light and dark, lines, vertical and horizontal, the point at which they cross symbolizing pain or pleasure, the seen and the unseen, these are my underlying thoughts.

But after all, if I am truthful it is the sheer enjoyment of putting paint on paper that draws me. As a watercolourist I am constantly surprised by the reaction of paint, water and paper, it never fails to excite, always something new to learn, always a beginner. If my paintings have to be labelled, I would like them to be meditations. A good way to communicate.
